O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

In pursuit of sustainable and innovative solutions to address the urgent challenges posed by NH3 combustion, the PLASMUS initiative embarks on a transformative three-year journey that transcends the boundaries of conventional research and development projects. Rooted in the fusion of combustion science, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and plasma physics, the PLASMUS project sets out with a daring aim: to redefine the paradigm of NH3 combustion control and flame stabilization through the revolutionary integration of Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma actuators. This ambitious endeavor propels the project beyond the realm of routine investigations, elevating it to a pioneering position in the scientific landscape. However, at its nucleus PLASMUS is not merely a research initiative; it has an ambitious goal to pioneer the development of an unparalleled laboratory-scale plasma assisted NH3 combustion system using DBD plasma actuators. This distinctive system is poised not only to exert precise control over combustion but also to yield a transformative influence in the reduction of NOx emissions. The multidisciplinary nature of this endeavor encompasses a holistic approach, intertwining rigorous experimental work with sophisticated optimization based on numerical modeling. In doing so, PLASMUS envisions not just incremental progress but a paradigm shift that reshapes NH3 into a sustainable and efficient fuel source, challenging the conventions of industries traditionally tethered to natural gas. The overarching goals of PLASMUS extend far beyond the ordinary. With an unyielding commitment to innovation, the project targets a substantial 15% reduction in global NOx emissions, a feat that surpasses contemporary expectations. Simultaneously, it seeks to push the boundaries of flame stability, envisioning a remarkable expansion of performance by at least 10%.
