O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

The aims of this project are manifold, each contributing to the overarching goal of advancing energy efficiency (EE) solutions and fostering informed decision-making processes: Firstly, the project endeavors to craft a comprehensive assessment methodology that encapsulates the diverse benefits of EE measures. This methodology will not only consider the direct energy savings but also delve into the circularity of its components, ensuring a holistic approach to evaluating EE solutions. Moreover, it will take into account the strategic preferences of decision makers (DMs), aligning the assessment framework with their goals for promoting EE initiatives. Secondly, the project seeks to select energy-efficient technologies across various sectors within the residential domain. From lighting to…

From lighting to insulation, heating, cooling, and renewable energy systems, the aim is to identify and incorporate technologies that align with Portugal's Long-Term Strategy for Building Renovation (LTRS PT), thus ensuring alignment with national objectives and policies. Thirdly, stakeholder engagement lies at the heart of the project's methodology. By involving key actors such as local government bodies, energy companies, manufacturers, technical offices, energy agencies, and consumers, the project aims to gather valuable insights and perspectives. Surveys and workshops will serve as platforms for eliciting input and feedback, ensuring that the selected EE technologies and the multiple indicators used in their assessment resonate with the needs and aspirations of various stakeholders. Moving forward, the project will leverage dynamic computational simulations to assess the real-world impacts of implementing different EE technologies. By evaluating their effects on building comfort and operational energy performance, these simulations will provide crucial insights to inform decision-making processes. The simulations will encompass various building attributes, stages of construction, geographic locations, and energy-efficient technologies. Furthermore, the project will adopt a hybrid input-output methodology, merging elements of input-output (IO) analysis and life cycle assessment (LCA). This innovative approach, tailored to account for circularity, will enable a comprehensive evaluation of the benefits derived from EE investments, transcending mere energy savings to encompass broader environmental and economic considerations. In effect it will be possible to encompass environmental, economic, and social (EEES) indicators to effectively quantify the impacts of the EE measures, specifically involving circularity concerns. In tandem, the project aims to develop a novel modeling framework grounded in portfolio theory. By integrating uncertainty handling mechanisms and aligning with the preferences of DMs identified through prior tasks, this framework will facilitate more robust and informed decision making in the realm of EE investments. With the tools proposed, the DM will be supported in the selection of portfolios of measures that should be targeted by the energy efficiency programs. Lastly, the project will culminate in the construction of a sustainability benchmark certificate. Leveraging insights gleaned from previous tasks, this certificate will serve as a testament to the efficiency and sustainability of EE technologies, enhancing stakeholder confidence and fostering broader adoption within the market.
