O QUE FOI APRESENTADO
Finalidade da operação
In this research project we intend to use a parallel strategy aiming to: 1) to understand and characterize the environment of important museums in Portugal, studying the microbial and chemical load of the museum's air, as well as of different surfaces to allow the creation of an environmental safety surveillance plan for the museums involved; 2) in addition, we intend to use technology such as photogrammetry and 3D printing to develop replicas of objects for museology using biodegradable materials with antimicrobial coatings produced from sustainable resources. Both lines coincide with a unifying objective of devising, exploring and evaluating the synergy between safe and tactile learning experiences in museums environment and the extension of those experiences to classroom contexts.…

Both lines coincide with a unifying objective of devising, exploring and evaluating the synergy between safe and tactile learning experiences in museums environment and the extension of those experiences to classroom contexts. Within those two main lines, the specific objectives will include: a) the preliminary identification of objects, surfaces, layouts, structures and designs to be used as prototypes for testing 3D printing materials, changing and optimizing texture, color, density and overall surface and aesthetic parameters; b) explore the potential of the use of object replicas, both for visitors experiences, in museum educational services and in classroom context; c) construction and implementation of PBL program applied to History classes and document analysis of national and international guidelines related to learning outcomes and problem-based solving; d) characterization of the environmental chemical and microbiological quality of the museum air thru the assessment of the pollutants and microbial contamination present; e) assessment of the microbial contamination of selected museum surfaces that will include representative surfaces from public and private section of the museum as well, as when pre-existing available replicas or interactive surfaces that public is allowed to interact with through touch; e) production of 3D printed prototypes, of several materials and material combinations for 3D printing as well as different texturization of surfaces that are optimized for high performance regarding interaction with public as well as adequate for application of experimental coatings; f) development of an antimicrobial coating compatible with the prototypes produced with high acceptability by users and overall antimicrobial, design and aesthetic performance of the final product; g) physical-chemical, structural and mechanical characterization of the prototypes as well as supporting evaluation of the performance of 3D printed replicas; h) validation of the final products of the project as well as evaluation of the interest and potential of application in educational contexts both inside and outside the museum.
