O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

This project aims to provide a sustainable solution for ports’ decarbonization, complying with the increasing energy demands of ports’ operations, driven by growing offshore economic sectors and increased cargo and worldwide maritime traffic. This can be accomplished through intelligent, efficient, and cost-effective modular wave energy systems. The project seeks to solve the problem by contributing to the conception of more efficient modular WEC systems. It intends to conceive, study, and analyze multi-resonance OWCs, novel intelligent control strategies, a novel self-rectifying air turbine concept, and novel power take-off operational configurations to increase efficiency. It will be achieved by using advanced numerical tools and experimental investigations. The multi-resonance OWCs are…

The multi-resonance OWCs are achieved by designing geometrical features. At the same time, the novel control strategies comprise the peak-shaving control approach conceived at IDMEC, tested partially in the full-scale biradial air turbine installed at Mutriku power plant and the floating spar-type OWC IDOM-Marmok-A-5 (deployed in Spain), in combination with a new spring-like compressibility control of the air chamber, using hierarchical intelligent approaches. The new air turbine comprises multiple fixed guide-vanes rows with axial turbine-type rotors, further improving the turbines’ efficiency and cost reduction. Furthermore, multiple smaller PTOs per OWC will be explored as a cost-reduction strategy.
