O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

By utilizing Lisbon as a case study, All@CityScape directly contributes to the objectives outlined in the Operational Programme Lisboa 2030, by progressing on methodological developments based on the Landscape Identity concept to value the role of public space. The three main general objectives of All@CityScape are: - to investigate how new demographic compositions shape urban landscape character, - to improve the understanding of perceptions and interaction among different groups of the population in public spaces in a multicultural context, and - to propose guidelines for public space design based on a collaborative process. Each of the general three objectives is explored in three Themes: (1) "Urban Landscape Mapping," (2) "Intergroup perception and interactions", and (3) "Collaborative…

Each of the general three objectives is explored in three Themes: (1) "Urban Landscape Mapping," (2) "Intergroup perception and interactions", and (3) "Collaborative spaces”. Each of the themes presents specific objectives. Theme 1. "Urban Landscape Mapping" will develop a methodology for landscape character assessment (LCA) fit for urban areas. Specific objectives are: (1.1) capturing urban landscape patterns; (1.2) capturing people's citywide perceptions based on algorithms for massive dataset sorting, to rank people’s perceptions on urban landscape using pictorial online surveys; (1.3) capturing people’s perceptions and emotions (i.e., landscape-walk apps capturing sensorial aspects and emotions; participatory mapping and capturing intensity and spatial distribution of people (1.4) exploring Site scale LCA based 3D modeling approaches. Theme 2. "Intergroup perception and interactions" will explore methodologies to improve the understanding of the interaction among different groups in public space. Based on the Lisbon case study, the specific objectives are: (2.1) to characterize and understand the demographic dynamics of Lisbon by identifying areas with changes in terms of types of population and uses (residents/services) for integration in LCA map and to inform the selection of neighborhood scale; (2.2) to identify and characterize intergroup behavior in public spaces in interaction with spatial characteristics to typify zones, namely identification of spots of conflict or segregation and spots of interaction or co-presence at the neighborhood scale; (2.3) to capture the intergroup attitudes (social distance, perceived attractiveness, and willingness to interact) between different groups of residents and users, namely with different geographic, social, and cultural origins at the site scale. Theme 3."Collaborative spaces” will promote the active involvement of stakeholders as co-decisors in the strategic aspects of research design, in a collaborative transdisciplinary process, committing them to the application of the research results and the methodologies explored in the project. Specific objectives are: (3.1) discussion and identification of key issues in the tensions observed at Lisbon’s public space enabling the selection of 2 case studies for in-depth analysis at the neighborhood scale; (3.2) identification of key tensions at the neighborhood scale and selection of 2 specific site cases (one at each neighborhood) for in-depth analysis; (3.3) discussion of tensions and involvement of relevant actors in a research-action process, resulting in a pop-up urban intervention in each site; and (3.4) proposition of guidelines for stakeholders’ action and for public policies and planning based on this participatory process.
