However, these solutions exhibit reduced sound absorption efficiency at certain ranges of the frequency domain. Some very recent studies by the research team presented the Metaporous solution concept, which will be further investigated with the incorporation of complex resonant structures embedded in porous absorptive material. It is essential for the scientific and technical communities to have solid information on the behaviour of such structures in order to promote their application in practice. 2) Development and validation of innovative solution based on the Metaporous concrete concept for railway passive noise control applications There is a need to design new acoustic metamaterial solutions, with both high durability and high sound absorption properties at the dominant frequencies of railway noise. In fact, the extension to the civil engineering field requires novel metamaterials and innovative noise control devices, designed, for example, for railway track environments, underground train stations and tunnels. The development of adequate numerical tools is crucial for this purpose, as well as their validation, and further experimental activities to verify the performance of the proposed concepts. 3) Provide technical information on the new acoustic concepts for the technical and scientific communities In order to make the developed solutions accessible for practical application, technical information will be prepared, disseminated and validated with the scientific community, allowing the technical community to implement the proposed solutions in practical scenarios (open and closed acoustic railway environments).
