Departing from Nara broader de?nition of Conservation as “all efforts designed to understand the cultural heritage, know its history and meaning, ensure its material safeguard and, as required, its presentation, restoration, and enhancement,” REVIVE aims to contribute to DS heritage conservation, and the advance of science, through the documentation, the constructive and structural analyze, the rescuing of traditional knowledge and practices, the application of advanced test techniques to a vernacular context, the execution of valorization plans, the issuing of practical guidelines for cultural value assessment and recognition, and producing innovative forms of heritage sharing. The project sets out to achieve the following key objectives: -Holistic Approach to Heritage Conservation: REVIVE combines expertise from architecture, social sciences to engineering with a multidisciplinary approach. This holistic view enables the RT to address heritage challenges comprehensively, focusing on authenticity, identity, and sustainability in both territory and construction preservation. -Preservation and Knowledge Acquisition of DS vernacular heritage: This includes deeply studying and showcasing the built heritage and humanized landscapes within mountain territories, contributing to their recognition, preservation, and socio-economic advancement. -Technological Mediation for Heritage Conservation: REVIVE aims to enhance heritage conservation efforts by leveraging technological advancements. This includes testing in DS heritage tools for 3D documentation, structural analysis, and the rescue of traditional knowledge and practices, ensuring the safeguarding and accessible sharing of vernacular heritage. -Community Empowerment and Cultural Resilience: the active involvement of local communities in heritage preservation, in the recognition of their ancestral heritage, can promote a revitalisation of cultural values and traditions, fostering economic and social growth rooted in local identity. -Sustainable Tourism Development: REVIVE emphasises that tourism should incorporate added values anchored in local activities. The project aims to develop tourism strategies that align with the region's traditions, promoting economic resilience through local craftsmanship (construction), artisanal production, and heritage-based tourism initiatives. Innovation for Economic and Social Development: By qualifying cultural heritage and fostering innovative forms of heritage sharing, REVIVE aims to drive economic development, cultural dynamism, and regional inclusion. The project seeks to improve living conditions while promoting the sustainable growth of inland communities. International Impact and Transferability: REVIVE's methodologies and findings are designed for broader applicability beyond the project's scope. The project aims to contribute to European heritage conservation efforts by developing transferable tools and approaches applicable to similar contexts internationally. In summary, REVIVE aims to revitalize and valorize inland vernacular environments by preserving their cultural heritage, promoting sustainable development, building capacities, engaging communities, advancing research, collaborating internationally, and assessing its impact. By doing so, the project aligns with the EU's Agenda 2030 SDGs, contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive future for these regions and their inhabitants.
