ROOTS l Ecologias de impacto e valor de mobilidades educativas: jovens adultos que regressam a regiões de baixa densidade após o ensino superior

ROOTS aims to advance knowledge on educational mobilities, their value, and their impact by examining young adults returning to their home regions after higher education and assessing networks and policies fostering return to develop policy recommendations, capacity building, and peer learning activities. ROOTS aims to: Study educational mobilities and motivations for return to regions with low population density after higher education (A1, A5). Relationships with schools and communities before outmigration can affect decisions to return. Experiences in higher education, study programmes, ties to family and friends, place attachment, and a sense of giving back are relevant explanatory factors with public services and meaningful projects regarding quality of life and sustainable social models. Develop social network analysis of collectives to increase the reach and areas of impact (A2, A5). Support networks are essential for a settlement with quality and impact. An exploratory search for this application revealed groups supporting those who return to their home regions. Some of these organisations are ROOTS partners, collaborating in identifying priorities and network strategies to maximise their impact and advocacy work. Explore ecologies of impact of young adults returning to low population density regions after higher education to inform policymakers and communities about the value of educational mobilities (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5). Returnees can drive development at various levels (not just economic) through their educational and social roles, community involvement, and participation by starting families. If properly harnessed, these return mobilities can contribute to the growth of focal points for future investment. Assess regional and local policies and interventions to support educational mobilities and resettlement of young adults returning after graduation to advance evidence-based policy recommendations and develop capacity-building workshops to promote quality impact (A3, A5) Previous research has shown communities’ strategies to support educational mobilities and foster a sense of belonging among youth in the expectation that they will return and settle. There is less information on the quality and impact of policies to support return and on recognizing the added value of qualified young adults. Identify promising approaches and cases for an in-depth investigation to test peer learning and problem-solving activities and consolidate policy recommendations and guidelines for action (A2, A3, A4, and A5) To make recommendations for implementing new practices, policies, and solutions, we must understand 'what works' in real contexts to support educational mobilities and impact. Pilot a knowledge partnership lab - ROOTS’Lab (A5) This activity aims to have a formative impact on all stakeholders: academics, young people, youth-led associations, local authorities, organisations, and regional media. It is intended to be a context of experimentation that benefits from exchanging knowledge, expertise, and learning as tools for change. Share key information with diverse stakeholders to develop integrated strategies to support educational mobilities and enhance its transformative impact (Activity 4, 5, 6) The ROOTS project is strategically designed to optimise its results by disseminating them to different audiences: the scientific community, stakeholders, the local community, and policymakers.
