Main Objective • Develop a Rapid, Sustainable, and Cost-Effective Radiotherapy Phantom: Our primary goal is to quickly produce affordable, sustainable, and due-time delivered customised phantoms to expedite the process of radiotherapy planning and initiation. This development aims to make advanced radiotherapy treatments more accessible, efficient, and customizable for patients. Specific Objectives • Assess Sustainable, Economical Material and Manufacturing Use: We will investigate the application of sustainable and cost-effective materials in the fabrication of clinical models. This effort seeks to not only improve the environmental impact of production but also enhance the precision and personalization of radiotherapy treatments. • Shorten Time for Phantom Production: Our objective is to significantly reduce the timespan from diagnosis to the initiation of radiotherapy treatment by optimizing the workflow from CT scan digitization to the manufacturing of customized phantoms by 3D printing. Streamlining this process is key to delivering timely treatments to patients. • Validate Phantoms with Clinical Data: Validation of the phantoms using clinical data is crucial to confirming their effectiveness and safety within radiotherapy settings. This step emphasizes the need for accurate and reliable treatment planning based on solid empirical evidence. • Real-Time Data Acquisition System and Digital Twin Integration: By integrating sensors into the phantoms, we aim to develop a real-time data acquisition system a allow a complete monitorization of materials-radiation interactions. This system, coupled with a digital twin, will significantly enhance treatment planning capabilities. The integration of real-time sensor data with digital twin technology promises to advance treatment accuracy and efficiency, setting a new standard for technological innovation in radiotherapy. • Enable Future Functional Integrations: Exploring the potential for the phantoms to be used in in vitro studies represents a forward-looking approach for simulating the effects of radiotherapy on tissues that mimic human organs, like organoids. This research could significantly advance the fields of personalized medicine and oncology, offering new insights into cancer treatment efficacy.
