O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

EartH2 addresses the challenge of developing an environmental, social, and economic methodology to establish a sustainability framework for the assessment of H2 value chain, based on LCSA, able to provide practical advice to industry actors, policymakers, and stakeholders. H2 is an important driver of the energy transition, not only to meet carbon emission reduction targets and combat climate change but also to ensure the long-term sustainability of the energy supply by reducing the dependency on carbon-intensive fuels. To achieve this, the following specific objectives (O) have been set for EartH2: O1) conceptualization of a reliable and robust LCSA methodology, an emergent tool that combines Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing and Social Life Cycle Assessment for measuring…

To achieve this, the following specific objectives (O) have been set for EartH2: O1) conceptualization of a reliable and robust LCSA methodology, an emergent tool that combines Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing and Social Life Cycle Assessment for measuring sustainability attributes of grey, green and blue H2 value chain; O2) comparison of environmental, social, and economic impacts of the grey H2 value chain (production, transportation, storage, and application) with the innovative and promising green/blue H2 value chain, identifying the value chain stages that contribute to the highest impacts and identifying improvement measurements; O2.1) development of environmental, social, and economic databases of the case studies (ceramic industry and jet fuel); O3) development of Product Category Rules (PCRs) for H2 energy carrier; O4) development of a roadmap to guide stakeholders and policymakers on how to promote the end user’s acceptance of sustainable H2 solutions. These objectives are relevant not only for the national and international scientific community but also for society, by informing stakeholders and decision-makers in the development of effective H2 policy measures to infer changes in end-users decisions.
