O QUE FOI APRESENTADO

Finalidade da operação

The SPIR-VT project aims to address critical safety challenges posed by the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires. Its objectives are defined to ensure the development, validation, and successful market introduction of an innovative solution to protect firefighting vehicles and their crews in extreme fire scenarios. These objectives include: - Enhancing firefighter safety: To develop a reliable, fire-resistant protection system capable of creating a safe and confined shelter for firefighting vehicle crews during extreme fire episodes, thereby reducing accidents, injuries, fatalities, and other operational risks. - Advancing deployment technology: To design and implement an automated deployment mechanism for the protective system that operates effectively and autonomously in…

- Advancing deployment technology: To design and implement an automated deployment mechanism for the protective system that operates effectively and autonomously in high-stress conditions, enabling rapid and reliable setup in less than one minute. - Material and design testing: To select and test the fire-resistant cell using advanced materials, such as silica fabric with vermiculite coating, ensuring superior performance under intense heat conditions while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to various vehicle models. - Prototypes assembly: To integrate the two main components of SPIR-VT – the protective fireproof fabric cell and deployment mechanism – in an unique product for testing and demonstration in realistic scenarios involving a fire truck exposed to an intense fire front. - System validation through testing: To conduct comprehensive laboratory and field testing of prototypes under realistic wildfire scenarios, verifying the system’s capacity to maintain survivable temperatures and withstand extreme fire behaviour. - Broad compatibility and market readiness: To ensure the adaptability of SPIR-VT to diverse fire truck models and operational environments, facilitating widespread adoption by firefighting entities worldwide. - Intellectual property and commercialization: To register a patent for the SPIR-VT system, protecting its intellectual property and establishing a foundation for commercial exploitation through partnerships with entities such as fire vehicle manufacturers and civil protection agencies. - Economic viability and market penetration: To promote the SPIR-VT solution as a cost-effective and scalable innovation, fostering opportunities for economic growth in the fire safety and firefighting vehicle manufacturing sectors. - Knowledge dissemination and collaboration: To actively disseminate the results of the project through demonstrations, promotional activities, and stakeholder engagement, raising awareness of its benefits and fostering collaborations for global implementation. - Environmental and societal impact: To minimize the environmental and societal impacts of wildfires by safeguarding critical firefighting infrastructure, ensuring the continuity of suppression operations, and reducing the spread and severity of fires. These objectives collectively align with the overarching goal of the project, which is to deliver a transformative, innovative, and practical solution to enhance the safety, efficiency, and resilience of firefighting operations in an era of escalating wildfire risks.
